WRIST SURGERY FORCES JAMES TO THE SIDELINES

James underwent successful surgery Friday afternoon to repair a broken scaphoid bone in his right wrist. Following last weekend’s race in Anaheim, where, after contemplating not even competing due to severe pain in his wrist following a crash in Phoenix the previous weekend, James rode valiantly to an impressive third-place finish.

Although initial x-rays after Phoenix did not indicate a break, an MRI performed on Thursday revealed that the bone was indeed broken. Surgery was performed by famed orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Arthur Ting, in Fremont, California.

As a result of the surgery, James will unfortunately not be competing in San Francisco this weekend. His return to racing will depend on how quickly he is able to recover post-surgery. He will be evaluated on a weekly basis, which will determine when he returns to the 2010 Supercross series.

“James is a true champion,” said L&M Racing’s Team Manager, Larry Brooks. “The fact that he rode as competitively as he did while making the podium at Anaheim 2 with a broken wrist (unknowingly) is testimony to that. He’s anxious to heal and get back on the track as soon as possible.”

Stay tuned for more details from James in the coming days…

got to agree with RODNEY..YEP MAN JS IS GETTING DISTRACTED AND NOT STAYING FOCUS MAN JUST WANT TO SAY IF YOU RACE LIKE YOU STARTED, MOTOCROSS WORLD WOULD BE AT AWWW.

  3. Alex says:

At least it was his right hand, he really doesn’t seem to use the brakes anyhow…

  4. Jake 122 says:

what do u think of me making a rap about you, James?

  5. Rodney says:

Sorry to hear the news on the hand.
Maybe you & CR can kiss & make up while you are both blaming each other for being a pair of chumps. The time on the sideline might give you the attitude adjustment you need & remind you what racing is really about!
You are one of the greatest riders of all time but get sucked into all the other BS.
Get out there and ride & forget all the other crap. Get back to the JS that we all want to see not just the fasted rider on the track but a true champion of the sport. My JS jersey is packed away awaiting the day this happens.
Can’t wait to see you back out there riding the way we all know you can.

  6. Martzz says:

  9. jason from north carolina says:

WHAT COULD YOU DO A SUZUKI?……….. I THINK THE BIKE FITS YOU BUBBA, PLUS ON A SUPERCROSS TRACK SUZUKI CAN OUT TURN ANY BIKE. BUT YOU WOULD LACK HORSE POWER.

  10. Todd from Indy says:

Hey ron. Did you know that all of us non pros ride motoross not supercross. I would rather watch something that I can relate to. Its way way way more fun going to a national and watching bubba haul ass around a 2 mile track than to a superross and watch them in 2nd and 3rd gear jumping a triple. If you think its ok to skip out of nationals your wrong bub. We, us fans pay real good money to watch the best of the best and thats the way it should be. And somebody said the reason he didn’t race last year was beause he didn’t have a ride haha. Why wouldn’t somebody give him a ride he would wax everybody. He didn’t want to ride.

  11. dean says:

And on this black white thing james is red white and blue

  12. dean says:

Supercross is very cool but motocross is what seperates the men from the boys.I personaly think desert racing is the ticket. But what is best for the fans and the race teams.I think watching james race in and outdoors is the best thing for the fans the sport and his sponsers.
if the top guys dont race the outdoors there wont be any outdoors to race and we will start geting our butts kicked at the de nations. And if thats not important to you you have no idea how supercross even got started.

  13. Ron says:

    James

Hope you get better and can get back on the track soon!

To all the haters out there >> We live in America. A racer doesn’t have to race if he doesn’t want to. I personally think its smart not to run the outdoors. As we have seen again this year it is very easy to get hurt. Supercross is where its at in this country. Its the big league. Racing supercross only is a very smart choice!

    • Rich C says:

I hope to see JS at the nationals. Outdoors is wear it all started; MC is suppose to be the king of SX yet he has 8 MX championships. See you at the Nationals; i hope.

  14. thompson 129 says:

james im serious? saleen553@yahoo.com i would kick reeds ass 4 u any time or place! jthompson/129

    • Rich C says:

Reed did nothing wrong that’s just racing. JS & CR are the best of the best.

    • Fred Souma says:

Hi James, I’m a big fan. Don’t worry about Reed. He needs some attention, you have the attention. Be a true champ. The best way to shut him down is keep winning then shake his hand on national tv. I’m sure he will think about becoming an ice skating figure before even you know it.
You’re gifted, don’t spoil it specially for a looser. Think about all the sacrifices your parents went through to get you at this level .

  15. Steve H says:

BTO7, you wrote quite a long chapter about nothing really! Chad Reed raced all year and he is also out with a broken bone. This stuff happens ALL the time as it is RACING!!! Nothing to do with James taking off Summer as I’m sure he trained harder for it. Remember, these guys risk their lives every single time they go out racing, so if they decided to do only SX, it shouldn’t bother you or anyone else in the world. Besides, from what I understand, James really wanted to race outdoors, but nobody wanted to sponsor him. Rightfully so, when you are at the top of you game as James is, there is no reason to race and not get a fair compensation for it.

    • Cory Teeple says:

      Well said Steve H

      • BTO7 says:

I wrote twice here and also 5 months ago here also when i found out he wasnt gonna race outdoors. Besides doing it for the fans and keeping his face with the fans that go to the nationals …which is where he got all his exposure to begin with… i sad i blamed Yamaha more for the decision then james……although i think james should have just raced anyways. The difference between Chad Reed getting hurt also??? How about the fact he is now the outdoor motocross champion? Sure you can get hurt anytime …with that logic we should all stay in our houses and never come out. James would be a bit more fit (im sorry practice is NOT LIKE RACING at all) from racing outdoors…he would most likely have a outdoor nationl number 1 plate right now and im betting his mid pack start wouldnt of happened had he stayed racing. What was james doing mid pack when he got hurt in the first place. Ive watched james race since the start ….you almost NEVER ever seen him mid pack like he was when he got jumped on. I say its due to his LAY OFF. Your reaction time only needs to be a few thousandths slower and you find yourself mid pack as he did. In a desperate attempt to quickly get to the front james took that jump and if you look closely crossed over in the air under that guy….why was james pushing so hard and taking such a risk ….he was behind and had to move fast. It cost him getting hurt. Look at last here …hes always top 5 to the first turn …funny how after his first summer off hes mid pack. I said a bunch of nothing ? Ive raced for 30 yrs. Yes i raced the A class as we call it just below the pros …I wound up breaking my leg trying to quickly get to the front of a race much like james did. They didnt have him race outdoors to SAVE him right? and he still gets hurt anyways RIGHT ? Would of been smarter to keep trying to get championships for the Yamaha team and have him race the outdoors where james made his mark to begin with. Yamaha acts like they could care a less about that title…so NO NEED to race it ? BULL ! So i guess you guys feel its OK now we dont see james again until next January ?? Please answer this one ….now that hes out …maybe he should just lay off till next year now huh and give it a try again ? Staying sharp ..staying focused and racing all the time is the best was to keep from getting hurt. Do you think he should now have the next 11 months off? I didnt think so .

  16. srg9 says:

hey kid get better soon i hope u ride outdoors and when u come back u should ride with your #7 we all know that u r the champ you dont need that #1 plate on front keep your 7 just like rossi rides his 46!!!
