2013 Anaheim 3 Supercross: Post-Race Update

Though still not where he expects to be in the results week in and week out, James finally cracked the top-five aboard his Yoshimura Suzuki in what has been a somewhat dismal 2013 AMA Supercross series thus far. JS7′s fourth-place result at Anaheim 3 (round five) provides a solid platform for better things to come, and the mighty number seven looks forward to a full week of testing and training before dropping the hammer next weekend in San Diego. Here’s what James had to say at the end of the night in Anaheim…

I know you wont see this, I know everybody always wants something from you.. People have to realize your an athlete from blood n bone n the hard yards you have done n the sacrifices you n your family made for you to be we’re your at today, I respect you as a racer for the fact you have everything money, fame, house, friends yet you still are prepared to race with the throttle twisted to full!! When god knows you don’t need to.. Reason I’m writing is to apologise to the guy handing out tickets at Anaheim 3 at1:30 to meet you.. It just so happens the tickets ran out on me!! I was lining p for a long time for that n it couldn’t be anymore wrong timing to watch the 2 guys in front get last tickets, I was annoyed at this as i came all the way from Australia to get a pic lol. I also went to Brisbane supercross wich was quite far from were i live in new south wales to see you in australia but you pulled out so I was cranky at the guy n said this is twice now i havnt Been able to see him come on! The worse part is my mother was diagnosed with cancer n lost a breast n is doing chemo therapy at moment n lost all her hair but reason I went to Anaheim was to wer pink n support cancer n to do things on my bucket list for my mother as I’ve always wanted to.. As I walked away a guy stopped me named Erin Briggs who was in a wheelchair from a sx accident and waiting to give a thank you card to Ricky carmicheal n said how Ricky helped him through some things, after talking to him you came out n jumped on your bike, and I took couple pics and realised my mums got cancer and there’s a guy in a wheel chair n I’m whinging about not geting to say g’day n pic with you, wat I’m geting at is I’ve got everything in life I’m so great full and thanks for all the years of hangin off the end of your bike…you don’t owe anyone anything! And it was a pleasure to watch you race live.. You don’t need luck you need ( faith)

Don’t forget to have fun out there James, I know it can get crazy, don’t forget to have fun bro, we are with u, james = number 1

  4. Vinny Jones says:

It does amaze me that people come on here and write shit about probably (in my opinion) one of the greatest riders to ever ride a motocross bike. In America you call them haters in England we call them sad nob heads! If you hate James that much go out on your dirtbike and beat him straight up on the track! Or stay on your computer and write crap because you are jealous of a guy who has made millions of dollars and fans doing something he loves! Keep giving it large James you’re a legend and a diamond geezer!!

  5. Chad says:

On Jan 20th I wrote: “My prediction is after about 4 more races (impossible points scenario), he’ll throw in the towel and do the surgery.” So, 2 down, 2 to go until he throws in the towel and gets the surgery.

  6. NObama, the most useless one ever says:

Have you ever noticed that there is no limit to the excuses on here? And from the buck toothed boy wonder, too? Enlighten us, when was the last time rent a cop made the podium? Or actually won a race? Championship? Tell us please. What’s the excuse this time?

  7. Joe says:

Smart race James! So bummed about your knee, I can’t even imagine how much pain your must be in doing 20 laps with the best in the wold chasing you. I’ll see you in San Diego this weekend. Hopefully you can get a start this weekend!

  8. Steady Eddy says:

Keep building a season James. Look how this season is going for a lot of the guys. Taking some 4th place finishes could give you the title.

  9. John A says:

Hey James as long as you’re having fun riding and I’m having fun watching what’s the problem? Podiums will come when you least expect it. Take this race you got 4th place and it looked like you were barely trying. Keep up the good work.

  10. Daniel says:

What’s up Bubba! Speaking of Bubba is wish they never cancelled your reality show. Man, I’ve just been reading some of the comments and I’m like “Give him a break!” I know supercross can’t be easy. The competition is crazy, the tracks are unpredictable, the riders are unpredictable (perfect example Chad Reed barreling into you round 4). Me, I actually love how you’re riding this season. You’re making more mature decisions in knowing when to go for it. You’re staying on top of your bike which is what matters most. Your health and confidence will continue to rise as your finishing positions do. But I love your attitude and approach this season …. being out there for the love of the autograph signings and racing in front of twenty thousand people for the love. I believe that’s what is going to put you back on top … the love, not the pressure to win. So keep doing what you’re doing James. Let time take it’s course, there may be bigger lessons than top podiums going on in your life. As long as your name is James Stewart, you’ll always have the talent and ability to dominate this sport. So don’t worry about nothing and go out there and have fun! I’ve been praying for your knee and that the Lord’s presence is with you when you ride. I’m sure Villopoto and Dungee can both tell you that riding with the Lord is the confidence behind their throttle hand. See you at the top podium soon!

  11. Kelvin says:

James you have done well. Good race. I am a bit concerned with your post-race comments, which seems to suggest that you expect things to go bad and to get a bad start. Psychologically that shows some cracks in your confidence, but my encouragement to you is not to use past mishaps to chart your forward expectations. Its all in what you believe, which should not come from a streak of problems, but should come from the potential and greatness that lies within you. Keep your head up and expect only victory.

  12. Huge Fan says:

James, despite your knee, you rode very well. You need to understand that when you were on the 125/250, you hauled! You still do, but others around you are starting to haul more! I feel that mentally your head isn’t quite in things the way it should be. You don’t have the drive you used to, whether it’s women, money, fame, or plain don’t give a crap, you need to put in to this what you used to back when you always had your head down! Scrubbin! Getting physical with those guys if they tried to pass you! Come on brotha! Every single fan knows you can do it. You are dissappointing people because they all said “I vote James to win this one, or James is gonna take it from start” Your practice times show you can do well. Things just don’t click when you get to the main. I know you aren’t intimidated, because you’ve had a lot more pressure on you before and you thrived. Next round, put your dam head down, put in solid practices, get a dam good start in the main, and haul brotha! Do your thing! The more conistant and smooth you are, the more “better” things will come in your life. If you are depressed, read a self help book! Look, you can agree, and a lot others can too, things haved changed ever since you went to a 4 stroke, that’s pretty self explanitory. 125/250 days, no doubt, you were always “the man”. Now we have R.V. running the show (most of the time), because he has drive, determination, FOCUSED. I’m done venting, you have always been a racer/person i’ve looked up to. You have no other worries in life other than to race, one might say “you’ve got it made”, so final statement. Get serious, drink some red-bull, focus, and have the WANT TO WIN attitude, trust me brotha, it will come if you do that. Look what it got R.V. last few years ;-)

  13. Brewrabb says:

Lots of people pulling for you James, keep up the good work .

  14. gman34 says:

good ride james I don’t think people are taking into account that with your knee injury you hav’nt been able to train the way you need to be training. I think you rode a very smart race and used your head. I believe people should have been able to tell that when the race first started you were faster than millsaps and barcia, but toward the end you had to back it off a little and hang on for a good finish during the closing laps. I believe that as you are able to do more during the week you will just keep finishing better and better. Good luck, a fan no matter where you finish gman34

  15. Boy Lard says:

Good steady ride James. This championship is going to go down to the wire. Holeshot next week and keep it on 2 wheels!

  16. Johnny says:

I have been a die hard fan for a long time now, James; however, seeing Milsaps and Barica pass you was a little surprising. It seemed you were much more aggressive in your heat race than the main event so was wondering if the track conditions made it tougher.

  17. steve says:

Nice race Bubba. Its good to see what can happen when your not racing with idiots. Millsaps and barcia are good clean riders. Not a dungey fan but good win for him. Get those starts down and the wins will be there.

  18. Jonathan & Samantha says:

get them starts down james and you will be on fire, that for sure was one of the best rides you have had all year.keep you head up and stay healthy i will alway be a bubba fan

  19. John says:

I think this was your best race in a long time. You stayed comfortable and got some confidence back. You can keep getting 4th for the rest of the year and I’ll be your fan. However, I think those finishes will lead to you getting your swagger back, which in turn will put you back on the podium. Just enjoy the great opportunity you have to make a living doing what you love.

  20. mozar says:
