It really hurts me to say this, but after spending the last couple of days under the observation of doctors and my family, it looks like it would be best for me to sit out this weekend’s race in Toronto. The fall at Indy was big but aside from the obvious, it aggravated a couple old injuries and I’ll need time to fully recover from that.

I know you haven’t heard a lot from me over the last few of days, but we’ve been working hard to see what I could and should do.  I’ve tried to push through it to see where my limitations are. And unfortunately it looks like that I wouldn’t be able push myself at the pace needed to run with the guys out there.  I’m sorry for that.

So at this point, there‘s no real time line for my return. But we’ll be working at it again next week to reevaluate my abilities for the race in Houston.

Trust me, this was a hard decision to make.  And it really came down in the last few hours. After assessing myself again today, talking to my team, my sponsors and my family, it’s clear that I need to give myself the time to heal.  So I just want to say thank you for supporting me. To my team, thanks guys and good luck this weekend to Davi; keep that podium streak alive! I’ll be back soon. To my sponsors, you guys are the best, I can’t say that enough. Thank you for the always sticking with me. And to my fans; man all you guys. I mean all you guys on Facebook with me, my Twitter followers, all you guys at the races or watching at home. Thank you for the love.  You guys really are the greatest. I’m working so we can get back out there soon, win some more races and have a couple more dinners.

Thank you all,

I just wanted to personally take the time to check in with you all after this weekend’s race. Over the past few weekends we as a team have been working really well and built up some solid momentum that carried us straight into Indianapolis. The practice sessions were good. We were able to go fast and the team and I were really excited to get out there and race. But unfortunately it didn’t play out the way we expected it to and I was unable to finish out the night.

As for right now, I’m heading in for further checks and after that we’ll reevaluate this weekend’s race in Toronto. We’ll keep you all in the loop as this goes, but right now I wanted to thank all of you for the support. To my fans, my team, my sponsors, my family, my friends; everyone out there that’s been supporting me; THANK YOU. I’ve seen a lot of posts online, been reading through the well wishes and everything else. And it’s really cool to see you guys looking out for us riders.

Thank you

Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana hosted round 11 of the 2012 AMA Supercross Series on St. Patrick’s Day evening, and the Indy fans came out in droves as nearly 60,000 people piled into the massive dome to take in the action. Excited to be in Indy after a convincing win in Daytona the week prior, James looked great aboard his JGRMX Yamaha during the day’s practice sessions, but was unfortunately forced to retire from the event early after a gnarly heat race crash.

When the gate dropped for the first Supercross-class heat of the night, James jumped out to a solid top-five start, but after a spinning his rear wheel off the face of a jump heading into the tracks’ first rhythm section, he unfortunately went down hard. During the crash, JS7 got smacked in the head by another rider’s rear wheel, and after lying on the stadium floor for several laps, was eventually taken off the track aboard the Asterisk medical Mule. After being closely examined by the Asterisk doctors back in the pits, it was later determined that James had suffered a concussion, and he and his crew made the wise decision to call it a night.

James is hopeful to return to the series next weekend in Toronto, but will visit with his doctors back in Florida on Monday for further evaluation. You’ll be the first to receive updates regarding James’ health as they come in, but until then, enjoy a few shots from earlier in the day in Indy to help get you through the week…
