James Stewart: Football Hooligan?

We all know how passionate of an athlete James Stewart is, so it was no surprise to bump into JS at the New York Red Bulls soccer game last night, but it was a little shocking when James led the crowd to a celebratory riot after witnessing a triumphant Red Bulls victory in their brand-new, state-of-the-art stadium in Harrison, NJ.

Only kidding! James was on his best behavior, soaking in the pleasant New Jersey weather and enjoying a little football action from the VIP skybox while on the mend from his wrist surgery. And while Stewart thoroughly enjoyed the game and was happy to support his fellow Red Bull athletes, he was slightly taken aback by both the slow pace of a professional soccer match, as well as the quietness. “Man, I’m so used to hearing loud dirt bikes all night long in a stadium… It’s so quiet down there, it’s almost a little weird!” commented James.

Of course, while we had the opportunity, we also caught up with James to get an update on his 2010 racing season. And just like we mentioned last week, James really does have all intentions of getting back to racing this summer.  If everything goes as expected with James’ wrist, as well as the team’s financial budget to contest the Nationals, it really does look like fans will get to see James in action all summer long… Or, as James puts it, “Until our budget runs out!”

While he is forced to sit out of the race anyway due to his recent wrist surgery, James decided to try his hand at a little commentating; he’ll give it a go tomorrow night at Angels Stadium.
