2012 Anaheim 2 Supercross: Post-Race Update

After setting some of the fastest lap times of the day during the Anaheim 2 practice sessions, James was looking the goods while leading Heat #1, but unfortunately went down hard after mistiming a rhythm section. Bruised and battered, James almost didn’t make it back out to compete in the LCQ, but decided to grin and bear it, and eventually went on to finish on the podium in second after putting in a gutsy main event performance. Check out what JS7 had to say after the race…

2012 Anaheim 2 Supercross: Pre-Race Update

Fresh off of a huge win last weekend in Oakland, James and crew are in Anaheim, California today for round five of the 2012 AMA Supercross Series. Though not officially designated as the breast cancer awareness race as in years past, JS7, along with several other riders and teams, will be rocking pink gear tonight in support of the cause. Here’s what James had to say about the race just before heading out for practice number one…

James Dominant At Anaheim 2

Round number five of the 2011 AMA Supercross series rolled through Anaheim, California on Saturday night, and with the stadium, riders and fans alike decked out in pink to support breast cancer awareness, James threw down the most convincing performance of the year, as he dominated A2 from start to finish.

Good starts proved to be key on the technical, tough-to-pass-on Anaheim circuit, so JS7 left little to chance by grabbing two holeshots en route to leading every single lap of both his heat race and the main event. Looking calm, cool and collected in his one-off, pink Answer Racing gear, James made it two wins in a row, and extended his championship points lead to five.

Here’s a quick recap of James’ A2 performance…

SUPERCROSS QUALIFYING HEATS

• James grabbed the holeshot to take the early lead in Supercross Heat #1, and never looked back.
• On the way to his seemingly easy heat race win, JS7 turned lap times that were one-to-two full seconds faster than the quickest laps of the day’s timed qualifying sessions.
• The overall race time of James’ Heat #1 win was over five seconds faster than Ryan Dungey’s Heat #2 victory.

    SUPERCROSS MAIN EVENT

    • When the gate dropped for the Supercross main event, JS7 once again ripped a massive holeshot aboard his Red Bull-backed Yamaha to take the early lead.
    • Looking smooth and confident out front, James immediately began opening up a comfortable lead, thanks in part to a gnarly quad-quad section that only he was doing.
    • Never to be challenged, James led wire-to-wire for his second-straight win of the series.
    • With the win came 25 valuable points, pushing JS7 out to a five-point lead in the championship standings.
