Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona hosted round two of the AMA Supercross series, and Arizona’s motocross faithful came out in droves to watch James dominate aboard his Red Bull-backed San Manuel Yamaha!
After setting the fastest lap times during the day’s timed practice sessions, JS7 rolled into the night show on a mission to redeem himself from the crash one year ago in Phoenix that would eventually sidelined him for the remainder of the series. With speed and confidence on his side, Stewart led wire-to-wire in the Supercross main event to capture his first victory in over a year! Here’s how the racing unfolded…
SUPERCROSS QUALIFYING HEAT
• James and his Red Bull-backed Yamaha went down momentarily while leading Heat #2, but remounted quickly to finish strong in the second spot.
SUPERCROSS MAIN EVENT
• James grabbed the holeshot to start the main, and despite some early pressure from last week’s winner, Ryan Villopoto, he rode 20 near-perfect laps to win in convincing fashion.
• The victory marks James’ first since winning the opening round in Anaheim one year and one week ago.
• JS7 now sits just two points back as the series moves on to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles next weekend.
